Panemunėlis St. Juozapas the Gurdian church was built in 1911. The works were supervised by Jonas Katelė. Everyone helped to build church as much as they could: men kneaded clay with their feet in spring; pressed bricks, dried and burned it; women had to bring 50 eggs each. They mixed in grout gave it strength. Children contributed to the work by giving the necessary items.

Church is built of red bricks and reminds to the neo-gothic basilica. By the way, the tower of Panemunėlis church is exceptional because of its bifurcated tower. Neither church has such a tower in Lithuania. It symbolizes Lithuanian-Polish union. Tower height – 52 meters.
