Sipailiškis Old Believers’ Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God

Old Believers began settling in the Sipailiškis area in the mid-19th century. In the first half of the 20th century, the Sipailiškis parish was the largest Old Believers’ parish in the Rokiškis district. The Sipailiškio Old Believers’ Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God is a non-functioning Russian Orthodox (Old Believers’) house of worship. Nearby stands an abandoned farm building and the rectory, also there are Old Believers’ cemeteries. The abandoned house of worship began to be renovated around 2010: bushes were cleared around the building, the bell tower with a cross was restored, the doors were replaced, and occasional gatherings of the small community were held.
