The church was built in 1866-1885. The first architectural project was prepared by Friedrich Gustav von Schacht and later developed by Austrian architect George Werner. It is said that the temple construction cost more than a million Tsarist gold rubles. Church founder was Reynold Tyzenhauz, but in 1880, after his death, work has continued and completed his sister Marija Tyzenhauzaite – Pseździeckiene (Pszeździecka)

Rokiškis Catholic Church surprising famous works of European masters: French sculptor P. Puosielgne-Rusand a bronze gilded central altar, Austrian sculptor Otto Koenig, Tyzenhauz bronze sculptures, Belgian sculptor Gerardo Bonar works, Latvian blacksmith Jozef Stadler fences and gates, the famous Belgian brothers Gojers workshops uniquely designed wood works, an Austrian stained glass windows, world famous for its German firm Walkers organ and others works of art. There are works from bronze by the Polish masters. For tourists are opened and the grounds of the church where resting three dynasties who ruled the Rokiškis Manor House (Krosinsky’s dukes, counts of Tyzenhauz and Pseździecki).
