The monument is a gift of the locals to Rokiškis, which beautifully “grew up” into the spaces of the main square and becamee one of the symbols of the city.The monument was built in 1999 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Rokiškis city. Since 2001 wood carvers, during the plein air organized by the Rokiskis Regional Museum, have been creating sculptures while taking a new look at the work and life of the carpenter Lionginas Šepka. Currently the park is decorated with more than 100 functional sculptures. The sculpture park created by Lithuanian wood carvers is a great commemoration of L. Šepka. And not just commemoration. The park will introduce the state of the 21st century Lithuanian woodcarving for future generations: its strengths and weaknesses, woodcarvers’ errors and discoveries.

Rokiškis Manor House (the Regional Museum) was built in 1801 in the style of Classicism under the project of an unknown architect. In 1905, the central building was rebuilt according to the project of architects K. Janovskis and P. Lilpopas and acquired Baroque elements. Since 1952 the Rokiškis Regional Museum has been a part of the manor house with over 100 thousand exhibits. In the museum you can get acquainted with the expositions in operation: the culture and history of Rokiškis manor, the history of Rokiškis region from the earliest times. Exclusive place is the exposition of unique wood carvings created by Lionginas Šepka (1907-1985). In the Rokiškis Regional Museum you will see the only Bethlehem exposition in Lithuania. It is made of about 100 Nativity sets. Here you can find art exhibitions, plenaries, classical music concerts, literary evenings. In 2011, the Rokiškis Manor House was recognized as the most attractive tourist destination in Lithuania.

The houses on the main street are decorated with shutters.The idea of reviving the tradition of home decoration came to the artist Arūnas Augutis in 2003, and in 2005, shutters painting became a successful project that lasts 15 years. Artist from all over Lithuania and neighbor countries takes part in this shutters painting project. More than 300 shutters were painted during the plein airs.The houses of Rokiškis city streets are decorated with painted shutters, like Kaunas str., Kęstutis str., Ąžuolų str., Sodų str., Vilnius str., Mikėno str. and villages of Rokiškis district, like Jurgiškiai, Kamajai, Antakriaunis, Bajorai, Salai, Šetekšnai are decorated with painted shutters.

But it deserves global recognition because it has set the exact parameters of our planet and allowed us to create accurate maps”, explains an 81-year-old Pranciškus Motuzas, who worked as a geodesist in Rokiškis. The Struve Geodetic Arc is a unique example of scientific development, cooperation between scientists from different countries, as well as government cooperation in the field of science, stretching over 2,820 km from Hammerfest (Norway) to the Black Sea and crossing 10 countries. The Struve Geodetic Arc was inscribed on the World Heritage list in 2005. Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struvė and colleagues began measuring the geodetic arc in several places. One of the first measuring places is in Pandėlys in Rokiškis district. Work here began exactly 200 years ago in 1820. Then he chose another point – a small village of Jokšiai in Kupiškis district, on a flat but high place, so that trees and buildings would not block the view. Then in Pandėlys and Jokšiai the scientists built wooden towers, called majakai in Lithuanian slang (sign/signal) at the height similar to Rokiškis church. The full beauty of lake Sartai and the landscape relief of Sartai regional park formed by glaciers thousands of years ago opens from the observation tower, located in Baršėnai village Rokiškis district, in territory of Sartai regional park. Tower was built with private funds in 2006. The height of the tower is 33 meter. Sartai is the fourth largest lake in Lithuania. The largest lake width is 950 meters, the average is 500 meters. The coastline runs around 80 kilometers. There are 7 islands on the lake. The largest island is 6.5 hectares. The observation tower will be temporarily closed on June 7, 2025.

Did you know, that behind the high altar you can read the names of all the parishioners who contributed as much as possible to the construction of the church? Church was built in 1866-1885. The founder of the construction was count Reinold Tyzenhaus, but when he died in 1880 his sister Marija Tyzenhauzaitė – Pšezdziecka continued the work. It was believed that the cost of church building could reach a million rubles, but founders always answered: “God knows, so we don’t need to count.” The exterior of the church is decorated with high-rise signs, a slate roof and a 56,5 meter high tower, which was later adapted to church. From tower it is possible to take a look to the city of Rokiškis. But the true beauty of the church lies inside it. Although it is dark inside the church, but how many wonderful gothic objects there hides: the splendor of the high altar, statues of counts Tyzenhaus, woodworks made by hand, 24 voices organs! Visitors can see the underground chapel, where the representatives of all three related dynasties that ruled Rokiškis manor (dukes Krošinskiai, counts Tyzenhaus and Pšezdzieckiai) rests. .

Salos chapel first time mentioned in 1771, when Salos manor was ruled by Kristupas Marikonis. New current church was built in 1887-188 by architect Georg Werner project. Bells were removed from tower and buried under the ground in a park. After the war, bells were hung in a temporary belfry. Bells were in even bigger danger during World War II. Germans took bells to Rokiškis railway station. Brave men made Germans soldiers get drunk and thats how bells were saved. The bells swayed again in the belfry after the War. Two of three bells have names: the great bell is Jurgis and the second one is Apolinaras. The third bell has no name, however, he avoided danger because in 1921 was lended to Adomynė church and wasn’t return to Salos until 1984.

The first expositions were opened in 1998 December 10. 2013 June 28 Rokiškis District Municipal Council named museum the Freedom Battle History Museum in Obeliai. The Liberty Battle History Museum in Obeliai is a cultural institution for patriotic education. The museum has over 9,000 exhibits. Aleksandravėlė Manor Park (Obeliai Sen.). The manor known since the 17th century, belonged to the Radvilos at the beginning and was called Pilianava. It was later bought from the Radvilos by italian landlords the Marikoniai. They called the settlement near the mansion Aleksandrava. At the end of the 18th century, the manor was lost in a game of cards. The estate began to disappear, and now only the stone foundations of the palace and the park with impressive linden alleys remain.

Kavoliškis Manor and Park (Rokiškis old town). From 18th century to the first half of the 20th century the manor belonged to the Komarovskiai, who lived in the old manor house built in the years around 1700 and made of solid pine logs on high stone bases. At the end of the 18th century, with the advent of Classicism, a portico supported by four columns appeared in the center of the building, and white lacquered outdoor shutters were placed at the windows and doors. There was a park and a garden near the manor house, occupying an area of about l ha. The park and palace were surrounded by pruned lime alleys. The gardens of the orchards in the interwar Lithuania were awarded with the Pomona medals. The candy factory and cookie factory “Delicje” owned by the Komarovskiai belonged to Kavoliškis manor. The products of the manor traveled to eastern and western Russia. At present, only manor houses and lime alleys have survived. On the Kavoliškis hill there is a chapel marking the eternal resting place of Count Zigmantas Leopoldas Komarovskis (1865-1920), the great-grandfather of the President of Poland Bronislavas Komarovskis.

Onuškis Manor and Park (Juodupės sen.). The former protected area of the Onuškis estate is 15.5 hectares with a park. Onuškis estate was first mentioned in 1522. In the 18th century, the area of Onuškis belonged to the Rajeckai. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, Onuškis was bought by Joseph Komaras (the owner of Raguvėlė estate), who died in 1849. His son Theophilus (1800-1861) built the palace of the late Classicism in Onuškis, (čia kablelio nereikia) with 11 columns on the facade in front of the park. It is believed that the palace was designed by a famous architect Cezaris Anikinis. After the death of the palace builder T. Pandėlys Manor park (Pandėlio sen.). The Pandėlys estate is already known from the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the 17th century, Pandėlys estate belonged to the Rajeckai, later owners kept changing. The buildings of the manor have not survived, only a 5.4 ha manor park has, and although having lost its primeval view, it is pleasing the eyes with maple and linden avenues, spectacular elm trees, thick oaks, sycamore maples, and green ashes. The park was established by M. Koscelkovskis in the first half of the 19th century in Italy’s Romantic style, arranged in squares connected by gravel paths. The park was decorated with a driveway. We invite you to visit the newly restored Obeliai monument. This is a special composition of a small architecture, resembling the principles of interwar architecture. An authentic monument is important for anyone interested in the history and architecture of the region. A spectacular concrete monument was erected on the Obeliai cemetery, near the dead graves of the victims of the June uprising, with the funds of local residents. During the difficult German occupation, the people of Obeliai Region offered funds for a concrete monument approximately 8 meters long and 3 meters high. For them, the monument was particularly expensive: it envisioned not only the rebellion against Soviet rule, but also the victims of the first Soviet occupation, the victims of the extinct people of the country. He symbolized a free, invincible Lithuania. The monument project was created by Gurijus Kateščenko, under the orders of the Obeliai Police Chief and Pastor Leonas Virkutis. People buried here are Kazys Jankauskas, Petras Putra, Algis Stankevicius, Juozas Šnioka, Konstantinas Seibutis, Jonas Baltrušaitis and two unknown soldiers. The initiator of the reconstruction of the monument is Donatas Smalinskas, Head of the State Language Inspectorate, who came from Obeliai.

In the center of Kamajai town square there is a monument to the priest and poet Antanas Strazdas (1760-1833), unveiled at the centenary of his death. The author of the monument is sculptor A. Aleksandravičius. Antanas Strazdas (1760–1833) – Lithuanian poet, author of the first printed collection of Lithuanian poems, Catholic priest. Due to his innate rebellious temperament and his own vocation as a priest, Strazdas resigned or lost the duties of Vicar of Kupiškis in 1801 and became a priest of missionary life, little subordinate to ecclesiastical authority. Traveling around Kupiškis, Obeliai parishes independently provided church services (mostly to peasants) and assisted for priests. In 1814 A. Strazdas wrote and published a collection of poetry “Giesmės svietiškos ir šventos” in Vilnius. One of Strazdas’ religious psalm “Giesmė prieš Mišią” (“Pulkim ant kelių”) from the 19th century the second half is still traditionally sung in Lithuanian Catholic churches on Sundays.
