The Obeliai Historical Museum, as a structural unit of the Rokiškis Regional Museum, was established on the 01.01.1998 by the decision of the Rokiškis District Council. The first expositions were opened in 1998 December 10. 2013 June 28 Rokiškis District Municipal Council named museum the Freedom Battle History Museum in Obeliai.

The Liberty Battle History Museum in Obeliai is a cultural institution for patriotic education. The museum has over 9,000 exhibits. They are divided into separate themes: numismatics of the Obeliai region, the history of the Lithuanian state, Lithuanian folk art, the Lithuanian Army, partisan fights in north-eastern Lithuania. The museum’s exhibits testifying to the freedom of the people of Lithuania, speaking about the honor and hope of Lithuania, were collected from the teacher from Obeliai region, former partisan Andrius Dručkus. He was also the initiator of the founding of this museum. He donated his greatest wealth to Lithuania and the younger generation – a collection of personal information collected during the years of occupation and saved from the blind eye of Soviet security.
